It’s Late…and….

It’s late (for me anyway), and I don’t have much to say except that it’s been an exciting past couple of weeks, and it’s going to be a hilarious/ridiculous next 3 weeks as I hit up Miami, Philly and Charleston. I’ll shoot you details soon.

For now I am going to leave you with this photo that I found at the Lululemon store in Charlotte. I do Nutrition 101 talks with them monthly (great crowd. come play!). This is apparently a little something sent to them from corporate that they post. Can someone PLEASE tell me how this fits under the header “fun”? I am baffled. Their twitter accounts are @Lululemon (corporate) and @LululemonCLT (Charlotte. Again, awesome people!).

Best,

When Jesus speaks of fear he talks about how we can fear those things that can destroy our bodies (like guns and knives), but he says we should fear all the more those things that can endanger our souls… and those are the more subtle dangers, and the suburban demons – like insulating ourselves from suffering or cluttering our lives with possessions while others live in poverty. These are the things that can destroy our souls. We are more scared of the suburbs than of the ghetto.

Just found this family picture. I’m rockin’ the up-do because this was taken right before my wedding. My mom figured, since we already had a photographer at the house that we were paying for, why not get the most for her moolah and have a family portrait session as well! This was incredibly rushed and impromptu. Turned out lovely though :-). Many thanks to Richard Israel for putting up with the Cloningers that day.

Guest Post (that Brian doesn’t know he’s posting)

*ding!* says my iPhone. The sound of email piling in. What do I read?….

“Just left Cracker Barrel, hitting the highway, it’s about to get interesting. Caffeine, plethora of sugary goodness, and my latest Hip-Hop playlist.

Mothers lock up your daughters. Daughters lock up your mothers. Hotlanta, Tall Skinny Latte is coming!”

Ohhhhhh dear…

Everything great about my life is my mom’s doing. She breaks down barriers, never quits, accomplishes the impossible and LOVES people. You can’t know Karen Cloninger and not be changed. Yes, the Cloningers are different, and it might be uncomfortable to watch us live. But that’s the point: we live. We live in freedom, love and peace with the confidence that comes from knowing Christ and loving our family. ♥

Are You a Slacktivist? [Read.Now.Go.]

Great blog post by Donald Miller. The comments are just as great. Insightful stuff. I think sometimes we’re all just so psyched that people are involved in any way at all, that we don’t ever evaluate if we’re efficient and effective.

Did you ask 50 of your closest friends to fund your $3,000 trip to Africa and have the time of your life? Oh, and of course you came in, probably disruptively, and helped the less fortunate. Does that make you awesome? Does that deserve praise?

So this should probably be a whole different blog post… and obviously the above is somewhat (okay, 100%) of a self-reflection.

Doing great things requires doing hard things. Sure, going far far away is hard for some people. It wasn’t difficult for me and I don’t feel good about that. I need to push further. Go deeper. I’m in the process. Trying not be comfy-Christian-slacktivist.

Do You Know TED?

TED is my new bff. If you don’t know TED, you should. If it’s true that you slowly become the people you spend the most time with, then you want to hang out with TED. You’ll become really smart.

TED: Ideas Worth Spreading is a free video library of talks by dynamic people. It’s my new radio in the morning or when winding down at night. TED and I play :-).

Check out this great TED talk by Mark Bittman (whose website is a wonderful resource in its own right). Learn about sustainable food. Love it.

I am really happy that Jon’s parents love each other so much that they decided to make a baby. It was the nicest thing anyone has ever done for me.
Yes, I quoted me. It needed to be said again :-)

A (Cloninger-Infused) Wilson Birthday

Yesterday was my husband 27th birthday. Since he is the most fun boy in the world, we had a lot to celebrate! Jon has never been big on celebrating birthdays. I, on the other hand, come from the land of birthday weeks, decorated living spaces, and tons of fanfare. It’s awesome.

Jon received the mac-daddy of all William-Sonoma spatulas (or “flipper” as Jon calls them). Being the most incredible omelet maker that he is, I thought he should work with the best tools. He also got a much needed pair of running shoes, pretty cards, homemade carrot cake, and a wonderful dinner at 131 Main in Huntersville (we will be returning!).

Here are a few iPhone pics.

Awesome friend. Great read. She’s a social media maniac.
